Palma...

Palma de Mallorca—usually called just Palma—is the capital of Mallorca and the largest city in Spain’s Balearic Islands.

It sits on the southwest coast of the island, facing the Mediterranean Sea, and is known for its mix of:

  • historic architecture

  • beaches and marina life

  • luxury hotels and shopping

  • lively food scene

  • easy access to the rest of Mallorca

It’s one of the most visited destinations in Spain for both short city breaks and longer summer holidays.

Main attractions

Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma(“La Seu”)

The city’s most famous landmark—a huge Gothic cathedral right by the sea. It dominates Palma’s skyline and is one of the most impressive churches in Spain.

Royal Palace of La Almudaina

A historic royal palace next to the cathedral, originally built as an Islamic fortress and later converted into a royal residence.

Food you should try

Local specialties include:

  • ensaïmada (sweet spiral pastry)

  • sobrasada (soft cured sausage)

  • tumbet (vegetable dish)

  • fresh seafood

  • tapas and local wines

Food is a major reason people love visiting Palma.

Tourism style

Palma suits:

  • couples

  • families

  • solo travelers

  • luxury travelers

  • cruise visitors

  • weekend city breaks

  • beach holidays with culture included

It’s less about “wild party tourism” (unless you stay in areas like Magaluf or El Arenal nearby) and more about stylish Mediterranean travel.

What Palma is like

Palma feels like a blend of:

  • old Spanish city charm

  • relaxed island lifestyle

  • upscale Mediterranean resort atmosphere

You’ll find:

  • Gothic cathedrals next to luxury yachts

  • narrow medieval streets opening into sunny plazas

  • beach clubs near centuries-old palaces

  • local bakeries beside designer boutiques

It’s much smaller and calmer than Barcelona, but still feels lively and cosmopolitan.

La Lonja de Palma

A beautiful Gothic building and symbol of Palma’s old maritime trading importance.

Passeig del Born

A stylish boulevard lined with cafés, shops, and elegant buildings—great for walking and people-watching.

Bellver Castle

A rare circular castle on a hill with panoramic views over the city and bay.

Best time to visit

Best months:

April–June and September–October

Warm weather, fewer crowds, and better hotel prices.

Peak season:

July–August

Hot, busy, expensive—but very lively.

Quick summary

Palma is basically:
a beautiful historic Mediterranean city where you can sightsee, eat well, and be on the beach the same day.

That’s why so many people return.

What do we do on this tour?

One of the best ways to truly understand Palma is through its food. On this foodie walking tour, we explore the Old Town at a relaxed pace, combining cultural insights with carefully selected tastings of traditional Mallorcan products.

We follow a thoughtfully designed route that avoids the busiest tourist streets, allowing you to discover authentic corners, local food spots and hidden gems. Along the way, your guide will explain how Mallorca’s history, traditions and local lifestyle have shaped its unique cuisine.

The itinerary may vary slightly depending on group size to ensure a personal and enjoyable experience, but the focus is always the same: real Palma, real flavours, and a genuine connection with the city.

During the tour, we stop at several iconic and lesser-known gastronomic spots, including:

  • Visit to the Santa Clara Convent to taste handmade cookies prepared by the nuns

  • Tasting traditional Mallorcan panadas and sobrasada

  • A tapas stop at a local venue (location may vary)

  • Sweet finale with almond ice cream and ensaimada at the legendary Can Joan de S’Aigo

To end the experience, we stop at the ancient olive tree in front of the Town Hall in Plaça de Cort — the perfect place for a group photo and a memorable finish to your food tour.

CAVES OF DRACH TOUR WITH BOAT TRIP AND MUSIC CONCERT

  • A visit to the Caves of Drach in Mallorca is a must, they are spectacular. Our tour to the Mallorca "dragon caves" begins at around 9:30 in the morning and finishes at approximately 14:15 in the afternoon, which means you still have time to catch some rays at the beach or to enjoy the rest of the day doing as you please, having already lived a once in a lifetime experience!

On this tour we have a local guide on the bus with you all who is very knowledgeable and will give you some information about the itinerary of the day, along with what to see and do in the caves... The guide will be organizing all the tickets, and everything you need for a smooth visit, for you. Along with the visit to the Cave, this actually has two parts: the visit to the Caves of Drach; and the opportunity to learn a little more about the famous pearls at the Majorca.

One of the main worries when visiting the Caves of Drach is if you will manage to get tickets or the long queues to get tickets for that same day. On our tour you don’t have to worry about this as we will have the tickets for the Caves prebooked. Once we arrive at the caves our tour guide will collect our entry tickets and pass them around to everyone on the coach, saving you queuing up. Then we will take you to the main entrance and all you must do is scan your ticket that we gave you.

Once you enter the caves you´ll be stunned by the beauty of the stalactites and stalagmites. You will be following a pathway viewing all the unusual sights of the cave, sights that you never imagined being hidden away underground. The pathway inside the Caves of Drach themselves is 900 meters long and as you follow through you will pass some of the most spectacular and nicest cave rooms.

This is the highlight of the tour: a live classical music concert that takes place inside the caves beside Lake Martel. This is one of the largest and most fascinating underground lakes in the world. The music paired with the scenery will be a moment you will cherish forever. The lake at the bottom of the cave and the concert from the boat will top off the whole experience perfectly.

You will then witness an extraordinary light spectacle which simulates the sunrise by Lake Martel, and to round off such a magical experience, you will have the chance to briefly go on the short boat trip inside the Caves of Drach on a small rowing boat.
