For anyone who has visited Antigua with us before and taken our Stingray or Day Beach Party...you all know and love our Captain Chris and his special talking Bus. (He has a new bigger and better one for this season!!!)
Just for our members staying overnight in Antigua, or late cruise departures, Chris has got permission, in conjunction with the owners of the little huts at the back of the beach to hold a special evening Rum Beach Party/Picnic on the glorious Long Bay Beach who the legend Steve Peryman MBE (ex-Tottenham Hotspur) described on our visit with Chris this March as his idea of Perfect Paradise!!!
The fun starts right from the Port, as members board the famous talking bus, as the music starts, (only to be interrupted by the Bus telling other vehicles to ‘Move Over’.... ‘Get out of the way’ much to everyone’s entertainment). Sing your hearts out to the music, (its OK by the time you have sampled Chris’s famous Rum punch, made from the finest (and strongest) rum, your inhibitions are history as you soak up the best Caribbean experience you will have on the Island.
On arrival, the speakers and lights are loaded on to the beach, and the fun party starts with Captain Chris, mostly accompanied by the famous King David as you commence the entertaining dancing and games, fun, sun and plenty of rum....(other drinks also available) what more could you ask for?
That is, until you slowly watch natures golden canvas in the sky, enjoying the glorious beautiful late-afternoon, early evening majestic event when the sky colours mimic nature's natural gradient, moving from brilliant golden yellows and fiery burnt oranges near the horizon to soft blush pinks, deep magentas, and cool lavenders or twilight blues higher up in the sky and golden hour reflections hitting the calm water. You may not see the sun slipping into the water, as you are on the beautiful Caribbean Sea side of the Island, yet it is the best shoreline on the island.
Even if you are not a party person (a bit difficult when you are around Chris!!) you can still lay back on the fine sandy beach, (or sit on the comfy $5 sunbeds!!) take a dip in the tranquil turquoise ocean and watch your fellow passengers enjoy the party, which I can assure, will have you laughing out loud!! As the moon appears sending a spectacular trail of light reflecting across the waters of the Caribbean
Momma Elaine, who most of you know too, will have a fine spread of homemade tasty delights, sandwiches and other finger foods for you to tuk in to, spread out on tables outside her shopping Hut at the back of the beach (to avoid getting sand in your sandwiches lol).
It will be sad to leave this spectacular beach front party, the enjoyment lasts, all the way back to the Port!!!
